Hyacinth Hollyhock', Dutch Hyacinth, Hyacinthus orientalis, Double-Flowered Hyacinth, Common Hyacinth, Spring Bulbs, Spring Flowers
With its distinct reddish pink color and double flowers, award-winning Hyacinth 'Hollylock' is a very cheerful and extraordinary sight! Featuring flowered spikes densely covered with starry, deep pink florets - almost crimson-red - it is exquisitely fragrant! Blooming for several weeks in mid spring, it will stay erect and upright when grown in the open and will not fall over. Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck!

- Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
- Hyacinthus orientalis is native to southwestern Asia, southern and central Turkey, northwestern Syria, Lebanon and northern Israel.
Hyacinths are extremely popular garden plants. One reason is the genus' wide assortment of flower colors. Another reason is their scent, described as rich or heavy, that is so highly praised by flower and plant enthusiasts. Completing the picture of the perfect bulbous plant, is the fact that hyacinths are very easy to bring into flower. The number of florets on the flower stalk depends on the size of the bulb. Large bulbs can produce 60 to 70 florets. For garden planting, however, such bulbs are less suitable because the flower stalks become top-heavy and fall over easily. Sizes 15-16 and 16-17 are best for garden planting. The large sizes, though, are eagerly sought for indoor forcing. Even though hyacinth bulbs are usually used only once, sometimes it is worthwhile to leave them in the ground for a year or two. When they bloom again, their flower clusters may be a bit smaller than in the first blooming season. To allow for good growing conditions, the plants must be given the opportunity to wither back completely.
