Lantana Lucky™ Lemon Glow

Vigorous, Lantana 'Lucky™ Lemon Glow' is a sun-loving evergreen shrub forming a compact bushy mound of dark green foliage which gets abundantly covered with brightly colored flower clusters from late spring to fall. Blooming continuously for months in a warm combination of white and lemon, the blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The ovate, toothed, wrinkled leaves are aromatic (pungent scent) when bruised. This Lantana is a tough, resilient plant valued for its long season of reliable bloom and its controlled habit all season, making it ideal for small gardens and containers.

Lemon Glow belongs to the Lucky Series lantanas which are noted for being more compact and heavier bloomers than many other varieties. Lucky Lantanas set few seeds, which means they have far fewer berries, and therefore keep focused on flowering their heart out.

  • Grows up to 12-16 in. high (30-40 cm) and 12-14 in. wide (30-35 cm).
  • Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Lantana is tolerant of all soil types (including poor soils) provided they are well drained and slightly acid.
  • Thrives in extreme heat, humidity and drought. Lantana is salt tolerant, making it an excellent choice for plantings near the beach.
  • Deer resistant
  • Great for beds and borders, wall-side borders, cottage gardens, coastal gardens, Mediterranean gardens or in containers.
  • Lantana is generally a very low maintenance plant. May be subject to powdery mildew if grown in shade. Root rot can be a problem if the soil is poorly drained or the plants are watered too frequently. Mites can be a problem, especially if the plants are very dry.
  • Plant lantana in spring, at least 2 weeks after all danger of frost is past.
  • Prune back plants after first flowering to shape and to encourage additional bud growth.
  • Highly toxic if ingested.
