Popular since its introduction in 1945, award-winning Narcissus 'Barrett Browning' is an exquisite daffodil with large flowers, 4 in. across (9 cm), exhibiting a showy orange-scarlet cup, slightly frilled at the rim, and glistening white, overlapping petals. Blooming in mid spring, one flower per stem, this Small-Cupped Daffodil is a good naturalizer and a terrific addition to beds, borders or containers. Excellent in fresh flower bouquets too.
- Recipient of the highly coveted Wister Award of the American Daffodil Society.
- Rising up to 14-16 inches tall (35-40 cm), this charming daffodil is an easy grower, naturalizes well and comes back year after year.
- Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade. Keep the soil moist during the growing season, but reduce watering after foliage begins to die back.
- This Daffodil is a welcomed addition to beds, borders, around shrubs, under deciduous trees or in naturalized areas. Provides spectacular drifts of color when planted en masse or mixed with any other flowering bulbs. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 6 bulbs).
- Deer and rabbit resistant!
- To be planted in fall
- Propagate by removing offsets as the leaves fade in early summer
- Ingestion may cause severe discomfort. Can also be a skin irritant.
- Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
- Small-Cupped Daffodils bear medium-sized flowers, one bloom per stem, characterized by a small cup or corona: not more than one-third the length of the petals. Mid season bloomers, this group includes many attractive, bi-colored cultivars, adorned with perfectly formed, white and pale petals, and usually strongly colored cups.
