Pelargonium 'Ardens'

Pelargonium x ardens

A gorgeous Pelargonium species, award-winning Pelargonium 'Ardens' is a tuberous perennial with arching sprays of stunning small brilliant scarlet flowers adorned with dark brown blotches and veins on all petals. Blooming from spring to fall, the eye-catching blossoms are borne on tall stems, and held well above the foliage mound of silvery-green, pinnately-lobed leaves. Summer dormant in hot summer areas, this heirloom Pelargonium is a hybrid between P. lobatum × P. fulgidum. A terrific container plant.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Grows up to 16 in. tall and wide (40 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in moderately fertile, neutral, well-drained soils. Reduce watering in later summer as plants become dormant.
  • Perfect addition to beds and borders or containers.
  • Virtually disease free. Watch for aphids.
  • Deadhead and remove yellowing leaves. Propagate by softwood cuttings in spring.
