Picea glauca ‘Echiniformis’ (White Spruce) is a dwarf, cushion-shaped, evergreen conifer with perfectly uniform branching. Its tiny branches are densely covered with very short, slender, silvery-green needles. A slow grower, 1 in. per year (2 cm), this Dwarf White Spruce makes a glorious accent in the rock garden. Great for small gardens.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 18 in. tall and wide (45 cm) after 10 years.
  • Performs best in full sun in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade. Generally prefers cool climates and will struggle in hot and humid climate areas. Provide good air circulation.
  • Perfect as a distinctive specimen plant in the sunny border, cottage gardens, rock gardens or containers.
  • Watch for adelgids, aphids or conifer red spider mite. Easy to grow and easy to care for.
  • No pruning required.
  • Propagate by seed sown in containers in a cold frame in spring or grafting in winter.
