Multiple award-winning Rosa Papa Meilland® is a captivating Hybrid Tea rose with extremely fragrant, large, full (35 petals), high-centered, velvety deep red flowers. Rich with an intense, old rose fragrance, the dramatic blossoms are borne on long, strong stems and enjoy a long vase life, making this rose a popular choice for cutting gardens. Quick to repeat, this outstanding rose blooms in flushes from spring to fall. A bushy, handsomely shaped shrub with large, glossy, dark green leaves which provide an ideal backdrop for its summer-long floral display and will take your breath away.

  • Voted into the Rose Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1988. Recipient of the Alexander Gamble Fragrance Medal from the American Rose Society in 1974
  • Grows up to 3-4 ft. tall (90-120 cm) and 2-4 ft. wide (60-120 cm).
  • An excellent choice for beds, borders, flowering hedges, or containers. Stunning when mass-planted. Excellent cut flowers.
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Susceptibility to mildew and black spot.
  • Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer.
  • Bred by Alain Meilland (1940-....) (France, 1963).
