Rosa Trumpeter (Floribunda Rose)

Rose Trumpeter, Rosa 'MACtrum', Rosa 'MACtru', Shrub Roses, Floribunda Roses

Extremely compact and healthy, Rosa Trumpeter is a dwarf floribunda rose boasting large clusters of fully double, cupped, bright vermilion red flowers, up to 2.75 in. across (6 cm). Packed with 35-45 gently ruffled petals, the catchy blossoms emit a light fragrance. Blooming continuously from late spring to fall, they stand out against the healthy foliage of glossy, mid-green leaves. Bushy, well-branched and armed with thorns, this small rounded shrub catches the eye and is terrific for beds and borders, containers and a great option as a flowering hedge. Vigorous, heat and rain tolerant.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 2 ft. tall and wide (60 cm).
  • Best grown in full sun in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils. For best flowering apply a balanced fertilizer and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertilizer again in early summer.
  • Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
  • Excellent disease resistance.
  • Bred by Samuel Darragh McGredy IV (1970).
