Blooming its heart out, Rose ‘Flower Carpet Scarlet’ is an impressive groundcover rose which produces abundant clusters of vivid scarlet flowers, 2 in. wide (5 cm). Up to 60 flowers and developing buds can be produced on a single stem and a mature plant can produce up to 2,000 roses during the season (!). The fresh and iridescent blossoms are borne atop a compact and dense bush of rich glossy dark green foliage that is noted for its strong disease resistance.

Flower Carpet Scarlet belongs to the Flower Carpet Roses Series which are known for their long bloom seasons, bright colors, profuse flowering, and natural resistance to leaf diseases that can plague roses, such as black spot and mildew. These roses also enjoy improved heat and humidity tolerance.

  • Blooming continuously from mid-spring until frost, this Rose is a low-maintenance groundcover rose that is easy to grow.
  • Growing in a low and compact bush up to 24-32 in. tall (60-80 cm) and 40 in. wide (100 cm), this groundcover Rose is perfect for beds, borders, city gardens, cottage gardens, mass plantings, or containers.
  • Best grown in full sun or part shade, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils. Best flower production in full sun. Grows well in partial shade (4 – 5 hours of sun per day) with reduced blooms. In zones 6 and below, continued winter protection is advised. In areas of intense heat, protect by planting in semi-shade (with plenty of filtered light), and keeping well-watered. Very tolerant of dry conditions once established.
  • Very tolerant of common rose blights such as black spot and mildew. It does not require routine chemical spraying and dusting in the landscape, apply only if needed.
  • Can be planted anytime during spring, summer, or fall.
  • Low maintenance, this Rose does not require fancy pruning. Cut back by 1/3 annually in late winter or early spring. Trim to shape any time of year, if desired.
