Noted for its gorgeous spring blooms and brilliant fall color, Spiraea prunifolia (Bridal Wreath) is an upright, clumping, deciduous shrub with gracefully arching branches. In early to mid-spring, a profusion of double white flowers held in clusters of 3-6 blossoms appear along the naked branches. The foliage of small, elliptic to ovate, finely-toothed, shiny dark green leaves turns attractive shades of red, orange, and yellow in the fall.

  • Grows with an open, loose habit up to 4-9 ft. tall (120-270 cm) and 6-8 ft. wide (180-240 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade as well as a wide range of soil conditions. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Perfect choice for borders, foundation plantings, or as a sumptuous specimen plant.
  • Deer resistant
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Watch for leaf spot, fire blight, powdery mildew, root rot, aphids, leaf roller, and scale.
