Begonia 'Garden Angel Plum' (Hardy Begonia)

Hardy Begonia, Garden Angel Series, Shrub Begonia

Noted for its impressive evergreen foliage, Begonia 'Garden Angel Plum' is an upright, mounding perennial with gorgeous, plum to pink, maple-like leaves, adorned with a bold, jagged shape and dark metallic coal-black veins. From late summer to fall, clusters of bright pinkish-red flowers are held above the leaves. But the primary contribution of this hardy Begonia is the beauty of its rich foliage. Fast-growing, it makes a large plant that soon makes an impact thanks to its spectacular coloring. Perfect for shaded beds and borders or containers.

  • Grows up to 30 in. tall (75 cm) and 24 in. across (60 cm).
  • Prefers part to full shade and fertile, rich, moist, and well-drained soils. Provide good air circulation. Applying winter mulch will increase survivability in borderline areas.
  • Cover the foliage with a deep mulch once the frost has hit the leaves.
  • The eye-catching foliage mixes well with hostas, ferns, and other shade perennials.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
