Fuchsia 'Cecile'
Hanging Baskets and Pots
Incredibly pretty, Fuchsia 'Cecile' is a deciduous small shrub with very large double flowers, 2.5 in. across (6 cm), adorned with broad deep pink-red sepals and a very full, elegantly frilled, lavender-blue corolla. Blooming non-stop from early summer to fall, both the flowers and fat pointed buds stand out against the foliage of light mid-green leaves. Attractive to bees and hummingbirds, this half-hardy Fuchsia makes a superb choice for hanging baskets, containers. A deservedly popular cultivar.
- Grows up to 18 in. tall and wide (45 cm).
- A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Provide a deep winter mulch and shelter from cold drying winds. Protect from the afternoon sun in hot climates.
- Perfect for containers.
- In early to mid-spring cut back the previous year's flowering stems to within one or two buds of the older woody framework. Also remove any thin, weak or dead growth.
- Stem cuttings are by far the easiest way of propagating fuchsias.
- Watch for rust, capsid bug and caterpillars.
