Hardy Geranium, Caucasian Cranesbill, Renard Geranium

AGM Award
Geranium Renardii, Hardy Geranium, Caucasian Cranesbill, Renard Geranium, Award geranium, AGM Geranium, Best geraniums, Best groundcovers, white geranium

Mostly valued for its handsome foliage which consists of sage-green velvety, lobed, finely wrinkled leaves, Geranium renardii or Renard Geranium also produces lovely pure white flowers marked with fascinating violet stripes in late spring or early summer. Compact, its foliage remains attractive throughout the growing season and makes it useful as a low ground cover. Turning yellow in fall, it creates a pretty contrast.

  • Clump-forming, this deciduous perennial reaches 6-12 in. in height and spread (15-30 cm). This sturdy performer is not only easy to grow, but it also requires very little maintenance and is fairly trouble free!
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade, in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Drought tolerant, once established, this Geranium also tolerates hot and humid summers.
  • Won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • A perfect border plant, it is a spectacular addition to herbaceous borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens or containers and is an excellent choice as an edging plant.
  • May self-seed in optimum growing conditions.
