Luminescent in the shade, Geranium clarkei ‘Kashmir White’ (Cranesbill) is a rhizomatous, spreading herbaceous perennial with a profusion of large, upward-facing, white flowers, 2 in. wide (5 cm), adorned with contrasting lilac-pink veins. Blooming profusely from late spring to midsummer, the blossoms arise from an attractive foliage mat of deeply-lobed leaves (7 lobes). Cutting back to the ground after the first flush of blooms and fertilizing will often promote a second bloom. Easy to grow, this cranesbill does not do well in areas with high summer heat or high humidity. One of the loveliest of all the clarkei selections.

  • Grows up to 1-2 ft. tall and wide (30-60 cm). Will self-seed in the garden in optimum growing conditions.
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soils. Prefers moist, humusy, well-drained soils. Full shade is tolerated.
  • A showy addition to beds and borders, cottage gardens. Perfect for underplanting roses and shrubs or as a ground cover.
  • Fairly pest and disease free but watch for vine weevil, capsid bug, sawflies and powdery mildew
  • Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage the production of fresh leaves and flowers. Propagate by division in spring or propagate by basal cuttings in early to mid-spring and root with bottom heat.
