Geranium x oxonianum 'Miss Heidi' (Cranesbill)

Cranesbill 'Miss Heidi', Geranium 'Miss Heidi'

Healthy and robust, Geranium x oxonianum 'Miss Heidi' (Cranesbill) is a superb hardy geranium cultivar with masses of small pink flowers adorned with violet-pink veining. Blooming heavily in the spring and sporadically throughout the summer, it forms a broad foliage mound of deeply divided, dark green leaves splashed with burgundy. Bushy, this hardy Geranium is reliable, easy to grow, and provides long-lasting color in the garden. It is one of the best choices for massed plantings, filling in quickly to create a lush ground cover. Excellent for rock gardens, mixed perennial borders, and containers.

  • Clump-forming, this perennial grows in a creeping mound up to 14-16 in. tall (35-40 cm) and 36 in. wide (90 cm). It requires very little maintenance!
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade, in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils. Tolerates some drought but prefers moist, humusy soils. Attractive to butterflies, but deer and rabbit resistant!
  • This Geranium is generally not subject to serious pest or disease issues. Watch for vine weevil, sawflies, slugs and snails, and powdery mildew
  • Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage the production of fresh leaves and flowers. Propagate by division in spring or propagate by basal cuttings in early to mid-spring and root with bottom heat
