Ginkgo biloba 'Majestic Butterfly',Maidenhair Tree 'Majestic Butterfly', Fossil Tree 'Majestic Butterfly', Icho 'Majestic Butterfly', Fall color,

Ginkgo biloba ‘Majestic Butterfly’ (Maidenhair Tree) is a deciduous conifer of vase-shaped, upright habit, adorned with a canopy of fan-shaped, beautifully variegated, green, cream and butter-yellow leaves. Reminiscent of the wings of butterflies, the variegated foliage holds its coloration throughout the growing season, before turning brilliant golden yellow in the fall. Slow-growing, 5-7 in. per year (12-17 cm), this graceful Maidenhair Tree is attractive in all seasons – Even in winter, when its stark silhouette bristles with spiky buds, given the tree an exotic charm. This male cultivar does not produce the distinctive fruit and is perfect as an accent for locations requiring a smaller tree. One of the most pollution-tolerant trees.

  • Grows up to 6 ft. tall (180 cm) and 3 ft. wide (90 cm) after 10 years.
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, including both alkaline and acidic soils.
  • Salt, heat or air pollution tolerance.
  • Perfect as a specimen tree.
  • Generally pest and disease free
  • Propagate by seed or semi-hardwood cuttings. This tree transplants easily and establishes without difficulty.
  • Native to China
