Mikoikoi, Wandering Chilean Iris, New Zealand Iris, Gold-Leaf New Zealand Iris, Orange Libertia

AGM Award
Libertia Peregrinans, Mikoikoi, Wandering Chilean Iris, New Zealand Iris, Gold-Leaf New Zealand Iris, Orange Libertia

Extremely eye-catching with its stiff, sword-shaped golden green leaves shaded with orange, Libertia peregrinans (New Zealand Iris) is a rhizomatous perennial which adds sparkles to the border! Slightly fragrant, pure small white, iris-like blossoms appear in clusters, on top of straight stems, in late spring and early summer, and flower sporadically from summer to fall. This grass-like plant makes a bold statement, especially in winter when its foliage brightens!

  • Evergreen, this tender perennial is winter hardy to zones 8-11, therefore it is grown as an annual in cooler zones.
  • Growing up to 18-24 in. tall and wide (45-60 cm) in loose clusters of individual clumps, this is an ideal addition to beds, borders, prairie plantings or rock gardens. Excellent as cut flowers!
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade, in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Drought tolerant and deer resistant!
  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
