Rudbeckia Triloba Blackjack Gold, Brown-Eyed Susan 'Blackjack Gold', Native Black-Eyed Susan 'Blackjack Gold', Thin-Leaved Rudbeckia 'Blackjack Gold', Thin-Leaf Coneflower 'Blackjack Gold', Branched Coneflower 'Blackjack Gold', late summer perennial, golden flowers,

Noted for its good disease resistance, Rudbeckia triloba ‘Blackjack Gold’ is a bushy biennial or short-lived perennial boasting a profusion of vibrant golden yellow flowers, 2 in. across (5 cm), adorned with a contrasting dark chocolate cone. Blooming profusely from midsummer to frost, they rise atop dark red, sturdy stems and provide fantastic and long-lasting color in the landscape. Pollinator-friendly, the blossoms attract butterflies and seed-eating songbirds during the fall and winter. The basal rosette of roughly hairy leaves persists through the winter, creating an attractive winter ground cover. Extremely easy to grow, this plant may naturalize easily and remain in the garden thanks to its ability to freely self-seed. Terrific in the late-season garden.

  • Densely branched, this Coneflower usually grows up to 36-40 in. tall (90-100 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun, in average, moist, well-drained soils. Will tolerate light shade, but flowering is best in full sun. Heat and drought tolerant.
  • Spectacular when massed in drifts, this is an excellent choice for perennial borders, cottage gardens, or naturalizing areas such as prairies or wildflower meadows. The flowers make excellent and long-lasting fresh-cut flowers.
  • Robust, low maintenance, and highly disease resistant, it is also deer resistant.
  • Remove spent flowers to promote further blooms, maintain a neat appearance, and prevent undesired self-seeding.
  • Propagate by seed or division.
  • Rudbeckia triloba species is native to the central-eastern United States.
