Early Blooming Daylilies
Extra Early Season Daylilies, Early Season Daylilies, Early Midseason Daylilies
Often called the 'perfect perennial' because of its numerous qualities: showy flowers, wide array of vibrant colors, drought tolerance, heat stress immunity, ability to grow in most hardiness zones and low care requirements, Daylilies (Hemerocallis) are a remarkable and stunning addition to the garden.
Since their vibrant blooms grace the garden over what appears to be a relatively short time (1 to 5 weeks - depending on daylily varieties and your area), you may want to extend their bloom season by selecting varieties with extra early, early or early midseason bloom times.
Another way of extending the floral display of your daylilies is to select reblooming daylily varieties, which will bloom more than once during a single season. Some of these bloom early (e.g., May or June) and then repeat in the fall. Others have a succession of bloom periods, one shortly after another for several months.
Here is a list of spectacular early blooming daylilies with blooms starting as early as March or April in the South, May or June in the North. Please note however that bloom times are approximate and highly depend on the weather conditions. You may want to check our list of late flowering daylily varieties too!
