Abies koreana 'Green Carpet' (Korean Fir)

Korean Fir 'Green Carpet', 'Green Carpet' Korean Fir

Abies koreana 'Green Carpet' (Korean Fir) is a dwarf, evergreen conifer forming a compact, flat, round cushion adorned with attractive fresh green needles in spring, turning dark green over the summer. Abundant purple cones are held upright along the branches, creating a lovely contrast against the foliage. Slow-growing, 2 in. per year (5 cm), this Korean Fir is a great choice for small gardens, containers or rockeries and makes a handsome groundcover.

  • Grows up to 2 ft. high (60 cm) and 6 ft. wide (180 cm) after 10 years.
  • Performs best in full sun in rich, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. More tolerant of heat and humidity than most firs but performs best in cooler climates.
  • Virtually disease free. Watch for aphids and adelgids. Easy to grow, easy to care for and rarely browsed by deer.
  • No pruning required.
