Fast-growing, Ceanothus ‘Remote Blue’ (Mountain Lilac) is a mounding evergreen shrub noted for its abundant clusters, up to 3 in. long (7 cm), of clear blue flowers in mid to late spring. Attracting bees and butterflies, the blossoms open from charcoal-blue buds and are so profuse that they literally cover the shrub for an outstanding display. They compliment the glossy foliage of small oval dark green leaves, 1 in. long (2.5 cm), which add sparkle to the garden year-round. Perfect for the waterwise or xeric landscape, Remote Blue Ceanothus is useful as an informal flowering hedge, as a screen or specimen.

  • Grows up to 6-8 ft. tall and wide (180-240 cm) .
  • Thrives in well-drained soils in full sun. Requires good drainage and occasional to moderate irrigation. Sensitive to too much water. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Excellent plant for sunny areas, banks and slopes, hedges and screens
  • Easy to grow, this plant is difficult to transplant once established.
