Grevillea 'Superb'
'Superb' Grevillea
A well-deserved name for this hybrid Grevillea, Grevillea 'Superb' is a compact evergreen shrub grown for its long-lasting flowers and the lovely textural quality of its deeply divided, light green leaves. Large, cylindrical clusters of coral, pink and yellow flowers, up to 5 in. long (12 cm), are produced at the end of each branch, over most of the year. They supply birds and hummingbirds with a copious supply of nectar. The flowers make excellent cut flowers. Reliable in a wide range of climates and soils, it is unusually frost hardy to 25°F (-3°C). 'Superb' is a hybrid Grevillea resulting from a cross between Grevillea bipinnatifida and Grevillea banksii.
- Grows with a dense habit to 3-5 ft. tall and wide (90-150 cm).
- Easily grown in acidic, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade. Drought tolerant once established. Use little to no Phosphorus fertilizer.
- Deer resistant
- Great as a specimen plant, hedge or screen, windbreak in Mediterranean gardens, coastal gardens and xeriscape gardens.
- Virtually disease free and pest free.
- Pruning is usually not required, but plants can tolerate moderate to heavy pruning if necessary.
- Known to cause skin irritations on sensitive skin.
- Native to Australia
