Thriving in light shade, Iris lazica (Lazistan Iris) is an evergreen perennial with lavender-blue flowers, up to 3 in. across (8 cm), adorned with delicate marking on each fall. Blooming in early spring, freely and regularly, the blossoms resemble those of the other winter-blooming, Iris unguicularis, to which Lazistan Iris is closely akin. This rhizomatous perennial forms attractive foliage clumps of arching glossy green leaves, that are broader than those of I. unguicularis. Easy to grow at the edge of the border and around deciduous shrubs.
