Narcissus 'Hawera' (Triandrus Daffodils)

Daffodil 'Hawera', Triandrus Daffodil 'Hawera', Triandrus Daffodils, Angel's Tears, Spring Bulbs, Spring Flowers

Very popular and reliable, multi-award winning Narcissus 'Hawera' is a dwarf daffodil boasting 6-8 gracefully nodding, pale canary yellow flowers per stem, each mildly fragrant bloom adorned with starry, slightly reflexed petals. This dwarf daffodil produces up to 9 stems, giving the aspect of a cheerful bouquet in mid to late spring. Long-lived, it forms large, vigorous clumps when grown in acid soil. A great pick for containers.

  • Rising up to 6-8 in. tall (15-20 cm), this Daffodil naturalizes well in the right spot and will come back year after year.
  • Recipient of the prestigious Wister Award of the American Daffodil Society for outstanding garden merit as well as the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade. Keep the soil moist during the growing season, but reduce watering after foliage begins to die back. More tolerant of shade and heavy, damp soil than other daffodils.
  • Welcomed addition to beds, borders, containers, rock gardens, around shrubs, under deciduous trees or in naturalized areas. Provides spectacular drifts of color when planted en masse or mixed with any other flowering bulbs. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 6 bulbs).
  • Deer and rabbit resistant!
  • To be planted in fall
  • Propagate by removing offsets as the leaves fade in early summer
  • Ingestion may cause severe discomfort. Can also be a skin irritant.
  • Triandrus Narcissus produce up to 2-3 small to medium-sized flowers per stem in mid to late spring. Their distinguishing feature is that the perianth petals flare back and away from the bell-shaped cup so that the cup is more conspicuous. The delicate-looking flowers, white or yellow, are always angled downward. Usually strongly fragrant, these low-growing little daffodils have a definite preference for somewhat damp habitats. They are also frequently used in rock gardens.
