Prized for its incredible fragrance, award-winning Philadelphus ‘Manteau d’Hermine’ is a compact small deciduous shrub of great beauty when in bloom. In late spring to early summer, its elegantly arching branches bear a profusion of highly-scented, double white flowers, 1.5 in. across (4 cm), borne in small clusters. The blossoms stand out against the foliage of oval, dark green leaves. Introduced in the late 1800s by French plant hybridizer Victor Lemoine, Manteau d’Hermine is still very popular today thanks to its sensational fragrance. An excellent dwarf Mock Orange that deserves a spot where its fragrance can be enjoyed. Perfect for small gardens!

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 2-3 ft. tall (60-90 cm) and 3-4 ft. wide (90-120 cm).
  • A full sun to light shade lover, this plant is best grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. This plant is not fussy about soils as long as they have good drainage. Drought tolerant.
  • Generally pest and disease free. Watch for leaf spot, canker, powdery mildew and rust.
  • Great for shrub borders, foundation plantings.
  • Blooms on previous year’s wood, so prune immediately after flowering. May be cut to the ground to rejuvenate this shrub.
