Viburnum x rhytidophylloides Red Balloon® (Lantanaphyllum Viburnum) is a compact deciduous shrub of upright-arching habit with a long season of interest. In spring, the shrub is covered with abundant flat clusters of lacy, white flowers. They are followed by green berries, which turn brilliant red in late summer, to the delight of hungry birds. The excellent, leathery foliage of wrinkled, ovate-oblong, dark green leaves remains fresh-looking and handsome all season long. Plant two or more Viburnum varieties near each other to ensure abundant fruit production.

  • Grows up to 6-8 ft. tall and wide (180-240 cm).
  • A full sun or part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in average, moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
  • Perfect as a specimen plant or for shrub borders, hedges and screens, and foundation plantings.
  • Attractive to birds and butterflies, but deer resistant.
  • Low maintenance, this plant is virtually pest and disease-free.
  • Prune as needed immediately after flowering.
