African Daisy 'Flame', Arctotis 'Flame'


Native to South Africa, Arctotis x hybrida 'Flame' is a stunning African Daisy exhibiting large, 4 in. wide (10 cm), bright bronze-orange daisy-like flowers surrounding a golden disk and beautiful, and finely cut, silvery-green foliage.  

  • Quite showy, this tender perennial won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Blooming continuously from late spring to frost (in hot areas, Arctotis will stop blooming in summer until temperature cools off. Blooming will start again in fall), the flowers close at night and may only partially open up on cloudy days.
  • Typically growing in compact mounds about 20 in. tall (50 cm) and 10 in. wide (25 cm), this plant performs best in full sun, in sandyconsistently moistwell-drained soils. It is drought tolerant once established.
  • Resilient to pests and diseases, Arctotis are great candidates for bordersrock gardens or for containers.
  • Arctotis are hardy to USDA 9 - 11 and grown as annuals in cooler areas.
  • Deadhead spent flowers to promote additional blooms.
