Award-winning Callistemon salignus (White Bottlebrush) is an upright evergreen shrub or small tree adorned with a dense foliage of willow-like leaves, 2-3 in. long (5-7 cm), which emerge bright pink to copper. The plant is covered with dense spikes of creamy-yellow flowers that resemble bottlebrushes in late spring and early summer. The blooms are a copious source of nectar for birds and hummingbirds. White Bottlebrush is an excellent garden and street tree. It is best to keep this plant at least 30 ft. (9 m) away from any buildings as the vigorous root system can lift paving.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 20-25 ft. tall (600-750 cm) and 10-15 ft. wide (300-450 cm).
  • Easily grown in acidic, moist, well-drained soils in full sun to light shade. Can also tolerate waterlogged soils for extended periods. It is also drought tolerant but performs best with regular irrigation.
  • Great for foundations, hedges, wall-side borders, Mediterranean gardens or coastal gardens.
  • Virtually disease free and pest free. Watch for glasshouse red spider mite, mealybugs and scale insects when grown under glass. Deer resistant.
  • Little or no pruning. This plant responds well to periodic pruning to encourage a bushier growth habit.
  • Native to Australia
