Campanula portenschlagiana (Serbian Bellflower) is a low-growing, sprawling perennial forming mounds of flaring, star-shaped, pale violet-blue flowers, 1 in. across (2 cm). Blooming freely from late spring to early summer, masses of flowers are borne on spreading stems above a foliage of rounded, mid-green leaves. Semi-evergreen to evergreen in warm winter climates, this Serbian Bellflower is perfect for edging paths or border fronts, cascading over walls or as a ground cover.

  • Grows up to 4-6 in. tall (10-15 cm) and 18-24 in. across (45-60 cm). This plant can be invasive as it spreads by underground runners.
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers part shade in warmer climates. Needs regular moisture!
  • Ideal for banks and slopes, garden edging, groundcover, cottage gardens, city gardens, rock gardens or containers. Keep it away from delicate plants that could be accidentally smothered.
  • Easy to grow, virtually disease and pest free, this low care perennial is also deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Cut back after flowering to maintain compact shape
  • Propagate by division in spring or autumn
  • Native to Croatia, Bosnia, Herzogovina
