Noted for its hardiness, Delphinium elatum 'Million Dollar Blue' (Candle Larkspur) is a mid-sized herbaceous perennial with large flower spikes, densely packed with semi-double to double, rich dark blue florets with dark bees. Blooming in early summer and then again in late summer or early fall, the showy spires rise with majesty from a mound of deeply dissected foliage. This vigorous hybrid belongs to the Million Dollar Series bred for improved vigor, heat tolerance, and shorter habit. Exceptional cut flower.
- Grows up to 30-36 in. tall (75-90 cm) and 18-24 in. wide (45-60 cm).
- Performs best in full sun or part shade in fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Provide a sheltered location to protect your plants from strong winds.
- Attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies, but ignored by deer and rabbits!
- A welcomed addition to beds and borders, cottage gardens. For the best visual impact, plant your Delphiniums in groups. Excellent as cut flowers, they deserve a spot in your cutting garden.
