Fuchsia 'Heidi Ann' (Hardy Fuchsia)
Hardy Fuchsia 'Heidi Ann'
Award-winning Fuchsia 'Heidi Ann' is a bushy, upright deciduous bush with a profusion of medium-sized, fully double flowers, with carmine-red tube and sepals, and a lilac-mauve frilly skirt with numerous petals and petaloids. Blooming non stop from early summer until frost, this flowering shrub features a self-branching growth with small dark green leaves adorned with a red central vein. Hardy enough to be kept in the garden border in sheltered gardens, this Fuchsia cultivar is a great choice for the border, can be grown as a great specimen pot plant or as a standard for the patio.
- Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
- Grows up to 3 ft. tall (90 cm) and 12-18 in. wide (30-45 cm).
- A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Provide a deep winter mulch and shelter from cold drying winds.
- Plant as a specimen or in small groups. Perfect for beds and borders, cottage gardens, coastal gardens and containers.
- In early to mid-spring cut back the previous year's flowering stems to within one or two buds of the older woody framework. Also remove any thin, weak or dead growth. This stimulates development of strong new growth on which flowers will be produced in late summer.
- Propagate by softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings
- Watch for rust, capsid bug and caterpillars.
