Fuchsia 'Roesse Blacky'

Hanging Baskets and Pots, Standard Fuchsia

Fuchsia 'Roesse Blacky' is a bushy deciduous shrub with striking, medium-sized, semi-double flowers adorned with lustrous red sepals which recurve to almost upright position and sumptuously dark purple corollas, almost black when they first open. Blooming non-stop from early summer to fall, the flowers stand out against the foliage of small, mid-green leaves. Attractive to bees and hummingbirds, the lax and arching growth habit of this lovely flowering shrub make it a perfect candidate for hanging baskets, containers. May also be grown as a weeping standard.

  • Grows up to 12 in. tall (30 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Provide a deep winter mulch and shelter from cold drying winds. Protect from the afternoon sun in hot climates.
  • Perfect for containers.
  • In early to mid-spring cut back the previous year's flowering stems to within one or two buds of the older woody framework. Also remove any thin, weak or dead growth.
  • Stem cuttings are by far the easiest way of propagating fuchsias.
  • Watch for rust, capsid bug and caterpillars.
