x Heucherella ‘Brass Lantern’ (Foamy Bells) is a vigorous perennial forming a bold mound of maple-like, palmately-lobed, brassy gold leaves with dark red veins from spring to fall. The foliage darkens to deep cinnamon and olive green in the winter. In early summer, wands of small, bell-shaped white flowers are held above the foliage on deep-red stems. One of the best foamy bells for shady woodland gardens, containers, and mixed borders. Evergreen in mild climates. Best color contrast with some shade.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 20-28 in. tall (50-70 cm) with a spread of 24 in. (60 cm).
  • Performs best in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. If the soil is moist, a shadier position may be tolerated. Mulch annually.
  • A spectacular addition to beds and borders, and woodland gardens and is ideal as a groundcover, as an edger along paths, or in containers. Fabulous when planted in groups!
  • Remove stems of faded flowers and dead leaves.
  • Keep an eye out for vine weevils and rust diseases.
  • Can be propagated by division. Lift the plant once in spring growth, taking small vigorous sections from around the edge. Each section should have good roots and 2-3 shoots.
  • Divide every few years.
