Tanacetum niveum (Silver Tansy)

Silver Tansy, White Bouquet Tansy, Snow Daisy

Tanacetum niveum, Silver Tansy, White Bouquet Tansy, white flowers, waterwise perennials, drought tolerant plants

Airy and delicate, Tanacetum niveum (Silver Tansy) is a mounding, multi-stemmed short-lived perennial boasting strongly aromatic gray-green divided foliage and clouds of tiny pure white daisies in dense panicles in late spring and early summer. Individual plants last three years or so, but Silver Tansy self-seeds, maintaining its presence in the garden. Undemanding, extremely pest and disease resistant, it is well-suited to the water-wise sunny border.

  • Grows up to 18-24. tall (45-60 cm) and 24-30 in. wide (60-75 cm). Can self-sow prolifically in open, disturbed soil.
  • Performs best in sun in dry to medium, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Good choice for cottage gardens or naturalized areas (where it can self-seed and spread freely). Excellent as fresh cut flowers.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Deer resistant.
  • Cut back after flowering to promote new blooms and encourage a dense and bushy appearance.
  • Propagate by seed or cuttings.
  • Native to Europe.
