Tanacetum niveum (Silver Tansy)
Silver Tansy, White Bouquet Tansy, Snow Daisy
Airy and delicate, Tanacetum niveum (Silver Tansy) is a mounding, multi-stemmed short-lived perennial boasting strongly aromatic gray-green divided foliage and clouds of tiny pure white daisies in dense panicles in late spring and early summer. Individual plants last three years or so, but Silver Tansy self-seeds, maintaining its presence in the garden. Undemanding, extremely pest and disease resistant, it is well-suited to the water-wise sunny border.
- Grows up to 18-24. tall (45-60 cm) and 24-30 in. wide (60-75 cm). Can self-sow prolifically in open, disturbed soil.
- Performs best in sun in dry to medium, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
- Good choice for cottage gardens or naturalized areas (where it can self-seed and spread freely). Excellent as fresh cut flowers.
- No serious pest or disease issues. Deer resistant.
- Cut back after flowering to promote new blooms and encourage a dense and bushy appearance.
- Propagate by seed or cuttings.
- Native to Europe.
