Award-winning Tulip ‘Ancilla’ is a striking cultivar of the Kaumanniana tulips, with its flower petals, creamy-white with a golden center circled in red on the inside, running over to rose-red and soft pink on the outside.
A symbol of spring, tulips are the most popular spring bulbs and most gardeners reserve them a spot in the garden or containers. Grown for their attractive, vibrantly colored flowers, there are currently over 3,000 registered varieties, which are divided into fifteen groups, mostly based on the flower type, size, and blooming period of the tulip.
Kaufmanniana Tulips are noted for their brightly contrasting colors. Blooming in superb combinations of red, rose and golden yellow in early to mid-spring, these showy prima donnas are low growers at 6-12 inches tall (15-30 cm) and are ideal in rock gardens or containers.
