Veronica austriaca (Austrian Speedwell) is a compact, mound-forming perennial of upright to sprawling habit boasting bright blue flowers arising in elongated axillary racemes from late spring to early summer. When in flower, this plant is a sea of blue. The leaves are ovate to oblong and more or less toothed. A very versatile plant for rock gardens or border fronts.

  • Grows up to 12-20 in. tall and wide (30-50 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun to part shade, in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Perfect choice for banks and slopes, beds and borders, garden edging, city gardens, coastal gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens and containers.
  • Easy to grow, this Speedwell requires very little care and is fairly pest and disease-free. Keep an eye out for powdery mildew.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Remove spent flowers to encourage compact habit and good flowering in the following year.
  • Propagate by division in autumn or spring.
  • Native to Europe, western Asia.
