New England Aster 'KICKIN Carmine Red', Michaelmas Daisy 'KICKIN Carmine Red', Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'KICKIN Carmine Red', Aster 'KICKIN Carmine Red'

Aster novae-angliae 'KICKIN Carmine Red' is a bushy, compact New England Aster that produces a profusion of semi-double, daisy-like, magenta-red flowers with a golden button center, from late summer to mid-fall. The blooms are so abundant that they literally blanket the plant and cover the foliage of finely textured green leaves. Ideal to add a great splash of color in the late-season garden, this eye-catching beauty is terrific in containers or near the front to middle of the border. Easy to grow, and long-lived, it does not require any human intervention to maintain its neat habit.

  • Typically grows up to 24-36 in. tall and wide (60-90 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Moist, rich soils are preferred. Provide good air circulation to avoid foliage diseases such as powdery mildew.
  • A vital ingredient of late summer and fall borders, cottage gardens, or containers
  • Asters are a must if you are trying to attract birds or butterflies. Plants are fairly unpalatable to browsing deer and rabbits.
  • No need to pinch back this compact aster to control plant height unless an unusually low plant height is required.
