One of the few double Fuchsias that is cold hardy, award-winner Fuchsia ‘Dollar Princess’ is a bushy, upright deciduous shrub with small, dark green, serrated foliage and showy flowers. Blooming from early summer until frost, the medium-sized, double flowers feature broad, recurving cerise-crimson sepals surrounding a purple ruffled corolla, splashed red. Attractive to bees and hummingbirds, the showy blossoms hang with grace from the arching stems like porcelain drop earrings. One of the most popular Fuchsias, this flowering shrub makes a very attractive specimen planted at the front of mixed borders, in a patio container, or as a standard.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 18 in. tall and wide (45 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Provide a deep winter mulch and shelter from cold drying winds.
  • Plant as a specimen or in small groups. Perfect for beds and borders, wall-side borders, cottage gardens or coastal gardens, or containers.
  • In early to mid-spring cut back the previous year’s flowering stems to within one or two buds of the older woody framework. Also remove any thin, weak, or dead growth. This stimulates the development of strong new growth on which flowers will be produced in late summer.
  • Propagate by softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings
  • Watch for rust, capsid bug, and caterpillars.
