Daffodil 'Silver Chimes', Jonquil 'Silver Chimes', Tazetta Daffodils, Jonquilla Daffodils, Spring Bulbs, Spring Flowers
Popular since its introduction in 1914, Narcissus ‘Silver Chimes’ is a sweetly fragrant, award-winning Daffodil with up to 10 nodding flowers, each with broad, silvery-white petals and a small, primrose-yellow cup in mid-late spring. Because of its strong stem and sweet scent, it makes excellent cut flowers!
The most popular companion of the tulip, daffodils are spring flowering bulbs mostly known as yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. However, daffodils (Narcissus) offer a wider range of flower shapes and colors that are fabulous when combined with other spring bulbs. Planted in the fall, they produce white, cream, pink, orange, or red flowers year after year, that will bloom from early to late spring, depending on weather conditions and cultivars. There are so many types of daffodils that they are classified into 12 groups, mostly reflecting the number or size of the flowers per stem or the shape of the petals.
Tazetta group includes very short-cupped, sweetly fragrant, mid-sized daffodils (between 6-18 inches tall or 15-55 cm) bearing multiple flowers (from 3 to 20) to a sturdy stem. The world-famous Paperwhite narcissus also belongs to this group. This strongly scented narcissus is not winter hardy but is perfect for producing flowers in a short time when grown indoors. In climatic zones 9 and 10, however, they can also be planted outside in the garden. The other cultivars in this group are suitable as garden plants, especially for placement among perennial plants or for cutting.
