AGM Award
Rhododendron 'Percy-Wiseman', 'Percy-Wiseman' Rhododendron, Mid Season Rhododendron, Evergreen Rhododendron, White flowers, White rhododendron, White flowering shrub

Incredibly beautiful and exceptionally floriferous, Rhododendron ‘Percy Wiseman’ is a semi-dwarf evergreen shrub with color-changing flowers. Blooming in mid to late spring, it displays an abundance of ball-shaped trusses, each counting up to 13-15 trumpet-shaped flowers, about 2 in. across (5 cm). Opening creamy pink, the flowers gradually turn creamy white with a yellow throat as they mature, after passing through shades of red, pink, and pale purplish pink. Since each flower opens and ages at different times, ‘Percy Wiseman provides a ravishing and colorful display. The evergreen leaves are glossy, narrow, and dark green on a fairly compact, rounded, and well-branched shrub. An outstanding degronianum var. yakushimanum hybrid, ‘Percy Wiseman’ is easy to grow and tough as it can stand temperatures as low as -5°F (-21°C).

  • Grows with an upright, spreading habit, up to 3-4 ft. tall (90-120 cm) and 4-6 ft. wide (120-180 cm)
  • Winner of multiple awards, including the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society as well as the Rhododendron of the Year Award of the American Rhododendron Society for the North West Region.
  • A sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, acidic, humusywell-drained soils. Tolerates full sun in cooler climates. Plant shallowly. Protect from frost to prevent damage to flowers. Mulch annually with leaf mold to retain moisture, control weeds, and cool the soil.
  • Perfect for beds and borderscottage gardens, and rock gardens. Ideal for small gardens and containers!
  • Removing spent flowers promotes new growth
  •  This shrub should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season’s flowers.
  • All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
