Trifolium pratense (Red Clover) is a biennial or short-lived perennial bearing trifoliate leaves and rounded clusters of rose-pink flowers from spring to fall. They are borne atop hollow, hairy stems and branches. Each leaf consists of a slender stalk bearing 3 leaflets. A great source of nectar, Red clover is primarily used for hay, pasture, silage, and soil improvement. It fixes nitrogen and adds nutrients that improve the soil.
