Vigorous, Hedera algeriensis 'Gloire de Marengo' (Algerian Ivy) is a self-clinging evergreen climber with large, lustrous, heart-shaped, dark leaves, 4-5 in. across (10-12 cm), marbled with gray-green and irregularly margined in creamy-white. Dramatic and colorful, this Ivy is popular for slopes, walls, and trellises.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 20 ft. tall (600 cm) and 3 ft. wide (90 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, it is best grown in fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. This plant is not fussy about soils and tolerates a wide range of conditions. Some drought tolerance, but produces its best foliage color in evenly moist soils. Provide shelter from cold, drying winds.
  • Susceptible to leaf spot, aphids, scale insects and vine weevil.
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings in summer
  • Ingestion may cause severe discomfort
