Strong and vigorous, Helianthus annuus ‘Vincent’s Choice’ (Common Sunflower) is a showy annual boasting a profusion of large blossoms adorned with an extra ring of rounded, overlapping petals. Bright golden-yellow, they surround a chocolate brown center. Blooming in summer, the pollen-free blossoms face upwards (instead of nodding) on strong stems and necks. Unlike other Sunflowers, Vincent’s Choice is less sensitive to day length (hours of sunlight) to grow and bloom. This allows growers to start the seeds earlier, continue them later than other varieties, and produce high quality flowers early, mid and late season. Perfect for containers or the sunny border.

  • Typically grows up to 5-6 ft. tall (150-180 cm) and 12 in. wide (30 cm).
  • Prefers full sun and enjoys moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, neutral to alkaline, well-drained soils. Site in a sheltered location, as the wind may catch the heavy heads.
  • Attractive to bird, butterflies and bees, it is deer resistant.
