Peony 'Duchesse de Nemours', 'Duchesse de Nemours' Peony, Chinese Peony 'Duchesse de Nemours', Common Garden Peony 'Duchesse de Nemours', White Peonies
A very old but extremely beautiful Peony, award-winning ‘Duchesse de Nemours’ (Paeonia lactiflora) is well worth including in your garden. Free-flowering and deliciously scented, it produces crown-shaped blossoms with rich creamy-white petals, delicately touched with a hint of yellow. Large and rounded, the outer petals surround a circle of smaller petals topped by a bursting crown of large, white, slightly incurved petals. Borne in profusion on strong stems, they float above a particularly attractive green foliage. ‘Duchesse de Nemours’ has been deservedly popular for over 150 years.
Peonies are a classic ingredient of the perennial border and have been in cultivation for over 2000 years. Beloved for their abundant blooms, the beauty of their exquisite flowers, their delightful fragrance, and their bold foliage changing shades over the seasons, peony flowers add a dazzling splash of color in the late spring and early summer garden.
