An excellent landscape choice, Weigela ‘Florida Variegata’ is a compact deciduous shrub noted for its handsome variegated foliage and pink flowers. Emerging in early spring, narrowly ovate, mid-green leaves line the gracefully arching branches. They are adorned with creamy-white edges which gradually mature to soft pale yellow. In early summer, the shrub is decorated with clusters of soft rose-pink buds which open to funnel-shaped, light pink flowers. Attractive to hummingbirds, the blossoms create a superb contrast against the variegated foliage. A medium-sized and highly ornamental flowering shrub that is easy to grow and glows in the landscape.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Densely-branched, rounded, this flowering shrub grows to 4-6 ft. tall and wide (120-180 cm).
  • A sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moist, well-drained soils.
  • Plant as a specimen or in small groups. Perfect for shrub borders or foundation plantings.
  • Responds well to hard renovative pruning.
  • Generally disease free. Watch for leaf and bud eelworms.
  • Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer, semi-hardwood cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in late fall and winter.
