Noted for its color variations, Coreopsis UPTICK™ Red (Tickseed) is a compact herbaceous perennial forming a tidy and bushy mound of narrow, mid-green foliage. Blooming continuously from early summer into fall, it produces masses of solid dark red flowers early in the season. The successive blooms are adorned with golden yellow tips. Easy to grow, heat tolerant, and disease resistant, this selection looks great in the garden all summer long. It is perfect for sunny borders and decorative containers. It can even be enjoyed indoors as this Coreopsis makes excellent cut flowers! The UPTICK™ series has won several industry awards.

  • Grows up to 12-14 in. tall and wide (30-35 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade (specifically in hot summer areas) and enjoys medium moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Very versatile, it is a welcomed addition to beds and borders, cottage or coastal gardens, and does great in containers. Spectacular in mass plantings.
  • Unfussy and relatively low maintenance, this Coreopsis is a favorite of bees and butterflies but is deer resistant.
  • Virtually disease free. Keep an eye out for slugs and snails.
  • Cut old stems back to their bases as they die back at the end of the year.
  • Propagate from basal cuttings.

Coreopsis are a favorite of many gardeners thanks to the bright colors of their flowers and their ability to put up with most garden soils. There are over 100 species available and countless hybrids. Most of them are low maintenance, drought tolerant, and enjoy long blooming seasons. Workhorse perennials in the sunny borders, they make excellent cut flowers.
