Very floriferous and vigorous, Dicentra ‘Amore Rose’ (Fern-Leaf Bleeding Heart) is a compact perennial noted for its beautiful lacy blue-green foliage and its abundant bright rose-pink flowers. Blooming over a very long season extending from late spring to late summer, the flowers dangle gracefully above the foliage mound, which remains fresh-looking throughout the growing season. Perfect to brighten shady borders, rock gardens, underplanting shrubs, as edging plant or as a ground cover.

  • Grows in a compact clump, up to 9-14 in. tall (22-35 cm) and 14 in. wide (35 cm). Unlike Common Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra spectabilis), it will not go dormant in midsummer as long as the soil is kept moist.
  • Thrives in part shade and is easily grown in fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils. It is full shade tolerant but be aware that too much shade will result in few flowers.
  • Great for edging, rock gardens, underplanting shrubs or as a ground cover
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for slugs. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • If ingested, all parts may cause stomach upset, the foliage may aggravate skin allergies. Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling. Bleeding Heart plants are not only toxic to humans but animals as well. Although aesthetically pleasing, this plant contains soquinoline alkaloids. Alkaloids negatively affect animals, most commonly cattle, sheep, and dogs.
