Pieris 'Brouwer's Beauty' (Japanese Andromeda)

Japanese Andromeda 'Brouwer’s Beauty', Hybrid Andromeda 'Brouwer’s Beauty', Lily of the Valley Shrub

An excellent choice for the landscape, Pieris 'Brouwer's Beauty' is a dense, compact, evergreen shrub that provides desirable winter interest, abundant spring blooms and a delightful foliage which holds its color across the seasons. It features deep purplish red flower buds in winter, which contrast nicely with the shiny, dark green foliage, transitioning to a profusion of urn-shaped, pendulous, creamy white flowers held in horizontal trusses at the tips of the branches. Pieris 'Brouwer's Beauty' is a charming hybrid between Pieris floribunda, from eastern North America, and Pieris japonica, from Japan.

  • Dense and compact, this slow-growing shrub typically grows 5-7 ft tall (150-210 cm) with a spread of 5-8 ft. (150-240 cm).
  • A sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in moistacidic, organically enriched, well-drained soils.
  • Winner of the Cary Award which recognizes plants that are particularly adequate for New England, offer superior landscape appeal, are winter hardy in zone 5 or colder and are pest resistant.
  • Deer resistant
  • Mass in mixed shrub borders. Perfect as specimen plantshedges or for foundation plantings. Great with Rhododendrons, ferns, hostas and epidemiums.
