Eye-catching, Rosa 'Handel' is a vigorous medium-sized climber with slightly scented, double, creamy flowers, 3.5 in. across (8 cm), beautifully adorned with rose-pink edges. The blooms are full and contain up to 24 petals each. They are perfectly displayed against the dark stems and handsome, glossy, bronze-tinged foliage. Blooming from summer to fall, this elegant, repeat-flowering climbing rose is rain resistant. A popular rose for its unusual but pretty blooms.
- Grows up to 5-10 ft. (150-300 cm) and spreads up to 7-8 ft. (210-240 cm).
- Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerant of poor soil. For best flowering apply a balanced fertilizer and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertilizer again in early summer.
- Ideal for walls, arbors, fences or other garden structures. Good cut flowers.
- Susceptible to blackspot or mildew
- Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer
- Bred by Samuel Darragh McGredy IV in 1960
