Rosa 'Wickwar' (Rambling Rose)

Rose 'Wickwar', Rambler Rose 'Wickwar', Hybrid Soulieana Roses, Shrub Roses

A spectacular sight in summer, award-winning Rosa 'Wickwar' is a sprawling bush with large clusters of small, single, creamy-white flowers, 2 in. across (5 cm), adorned with golden-yellow stamens. Produced in abundance once in spring or summer, the flowers (4-8 petals) are borne on long, arching stems with thorny shoots bearing a lovely chalky blue-gray foliage. The blooms are followed by decorative, orange-yellow hips in the fall, extending the season of interest of the plant. Extremely vigorous, 'Wickwar' is ideal for covering an eyesore, a large wall, pergola or arbor. Very disease resistant.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Grows up to 8-12 ft. tall (240-360 m) and 6-12 ft. wide (180-360 cm).
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates some shade.
  • Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer
  • Produced by Steadmanin the UK in 1960 as a hybrid of Rosa soulierana
