Award-winning Thymus 'Silver Queen' (Lemon Thyme) is a bushy dwarf evergreen shrub with a sweet lemony fragrance. The foliage of small, edible, ovate leaves is dark green edged in silver. It provides excellent ornamental value in the garden. In early to mid-summer, the plant is smothered in clusters of small, tubular, pale mauve flowers that are attractive to bees and butterflies. Excellent culinary herb used to flavor chicken, fish, pork, vegetable dishes, or stuffing. Leaves make a flavorful tea. Can also be used as a ground cover in rock gardens or border fronts.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 9-12 in. tall (22-30 cm) and 15-18 in. wide (37-45 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is best grown in most well-drained alkaline to neutral soils. Drought tolerant, once established.
  • Virtually disease and pest free. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Perfect for edging or border fronts where a few of its stems may occasionally be crushed under foot to release their wonderful citrus scent. This plant adds character to rock gardens, Mediterranean gardens, cottage gardens, and herb gardens. Great for containers too!
  • Propagate by division in spring. Semi-hardwood cuttings may be taken in mid- to late-summer, although some bottom heat may be required
